To all loving rowing and sculling!
We enjoy rowing on artificial lake, Miyagase-ko, in Kanagawa,Japan.We can row about 4km straight at the longest. There is no regatta course for rowing on this lake, so every skiff are free to choose thier rowing course at least keeping 11 center lined buoys within rowable zone.
So we, skiffs must anticipate collision with each other correctly and if once collision is anticipated, we must prevent collision.
How to anticipate collision correctly.
Collision case
- Boat A and Boat B move keeping constant speed and constant bearing and their course intersect each other Point X.
- Boat A keeps same view Angle from Boat B, myself. That means angle XBA keeps constant whole the time. Example t0,t1,t2, refer to Upper case on Fig. A.
- In collision case, how can Boat B,myself, see counter part boat A?
- Refer to Over head view on Fig.B. In this figer, Boat A position from Boat B is indicated as clock angle.
- In collision case, this clock angle keeps constant whole the time, then Boat A seems still for Boat B.

No Collision Case
- No collision case is inverse of collision case.
- Angle XBA changes.
- Clock angle changes.
- For B , myself, Boat A looks foward or reward.
If Collision anticipated
- If collision is anticipated, we must change the case with collision to case without collision.
- We can change the case with changing speed or bearing.
Collision should be avoided the first.
A few can anticipated collision correctly.
So my description will be useful for rower and sculler on the lake.
